Before registering your tow strap, it is critical to conduct a full inspection of the product immediately upon delivery. While all Dawnerz straps are shipped in secure packaging and undergo quality control at the manufacturing stage, damage can still occur during transport or handling.
This inspection ensures that the strap is safe to register, store, or place into service.
1. Inspect the Packaging
- Check for any signs of external damage to the shipping box or inner packaging.
- Look for crushed corners, punctures, water damage, or any tampering.
- If the packaging appears compromised, open it carefully and proceed with a detailed product inspection.
2. Examine the Webbing
Remove the strap fully from its packaging.
Inspect the entire length of the webbing for:
- Cuts or slashes
- Fraying or broken fibers
- Chemical stains, heat marks, or abrasions
- Twists, knots, or irregular tension spots
The strap should lay flat and show uniform tension throughout. Any deviation may indicate mishandling or a manufacturing issue.
3. Check the Eyes / Sewn Loops
- Examine the sewn eyes at both ends of the strap.
- Ensure stitching is tight, uniform, and unbroken.
- Check for distortion, pulled threads, or separation from the body of the strap.
4. Confirm ID Tag and Safety Label
Locate the sewn-in ID tag. This tag must be intact and clearly legible.
The tag should display all required product identifiers, including:
- Manufacturer name
- Working Load Limit (WLL) or Minimum Break Strength (MBS)
- Serial or batch number
- Material specification (e.g., 100% polyester)
- Country of manufacture
A missing or unreadable ID tag is considered a compliance issue in some regions. The tag must remain permanently affixed to the strap.
5. If There’s Damage, Take Action Immediately
If you discover any signs of damage or defect, do not register or use the strap. Instead:
- Take clear photos of the issue — including full strap shots and close-ups.
- Retain all original packaging.
- Contact Dawnerz Support immediately.
- Final Note
Do not place the strap into service or register it if any irregularities are present. Registering a damaged strap may invalidate warranty coverage and could pose a safety hazard. Dawnerz will assist you promptly in resolving any product quality concerns.
