Making sure your towing and recovery equipment is ready for use is a vital step in ensuring reliability. There's nothing worse than getting stuck in some remote area, and when you pull out your strap, it's covered in dust, grease, or the materials are frayed from rubbing against all sorts of debris on the floor in your excavator or tractor. So we thought we'd share a few tips on tow strap inspection and how to store your Dawnerz tow strap properly!
Tow Strap Inspection
Check for cuts, fraying, or broken fibers.
Inspect reinforced eyes for wear or damage.
Look for signs of abrasion or thinning areas.
Check for burns, melted fibers, or chemical damage.
Ensure no knots or twists that could weaken the strap.
Verify stitching is intact and not coming loose.
Look for dirt, oil, or debris that may weaken fibers.
After inspecting them, and hopefully using them for another successful recovery, you need to make sure you clean and store them properly, because the next time you want to use them, you might not be so fortunate!
Storage
Shake off dirt and debris after use.
Wash with mild soap and water; avoid harsh chemicals.
Air dry completely before storing.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Avoid storing near sharp objects or heavy loads.
Keep away from oils, grease, and corrosive substances.
Coil neatly to prevent tangling or kinks.Regularly inspect before and after storage.
Our webbing is treated against oils, grease, chemicals, and is resistant to UV degradation. We take these steps to prolong the lifespan of our products as much as possible. However, that doesn't mean it's a good idea to leave them covered in any of the above-mentioned! Proper cleaning and inspections can make all the difference in how long you can keep using your straps!
